What we do

We strive to share Christ with our community, through hospitality which comes from and acknowledges the welcome and presence of God with us, recognising that all people are made in the image of God.

Worship

Worship is at the heart of who we are.

We share the good news of Jesus Christ through

  • Sunday morning services at 9am each week.
  • We celebrate Holy Communion on the 2nd Sunday each month.
  • Monthly midweek service on the first Wednesday at 2pm followed by afternoon tea
  • Provision of Pastoral Services – baptisms, weddings and funerals for church members and the wider community, All Saints’ Day service to remember those who have died in the previous year.
  • Monthly service at ARCARE Portarlington,
  • A Celtic spirituality service as part of the National Celtic Festival
  • Participation in other ecumenical events such as Christmas Carols on the foreshore, and World Day of Prayer.

Nurture

Our Church Community nurtures us and the wider community through

  • Monthly Community Breakfasts
  • Study groups especially at Lent and Advent
  • Pastoral Care – provided by a team who nurture and build up the congregation through faith and love
  • Visiting speakers – sometimes one-off, other times a series
  • Annual Retreat for interested members of the congregation and  wider community

Responding to human need

We make ongoing donations of goods, funds and personnel to local and wider support networks such as

  • Queenscliff ‘Rural Australians for Refugees’
  • Geelong Mums
  • The Road Home homeless support Norlane

  • Our monthly small change offerings support local and international projects. Currently, Uniting World community garden project in Timor-Leste and in VicTas, Uniting AgeWell’s Music for David music therapy program for residents living with dementia.

Expressing the Gospel in fresh ways

We strive to reconcile and recognise diversity, be it cultural, generational, or ancestral. As followers of Christ, we seek to walk together as First and Second Peoples, seeking compassion and justice for all of creation.

  • We recognise our First Peoples at our worship services
  • Our worship is inclusive, we welcome all people regardless of age, race, abilities, gender identity and sexuality.
  • We co-operate with the Scripture Union Beach Mission in January who use our facilities.

Caring for creation

We understand we are called to care for God’s creation and we have

  • A recycling service for used batteries and printer inks, plastic lids, toothpaste tubes etc. Collection boxes are in the church porch
  • Awareness raising speakers at monthly community breakfasts and the annual justice day.

We strive to share Christ with our community, through hospitality which comes from and acknowledges the welcome and presence of God with us, recognising that all people are made in the image of God.
